Energy efficiency

Offsetting Emissions

The Coswell Group continues to invest in solutions to improve the energy efficiency of its production facilities. At the INCOS Srl plant located at Via Einaudi 8 (Castello d’Argile, Bologna), a photovoltaic system with a total capacity of 315.89 kW is currently in operation.
In addition, a further photovoltaic system with a capacity of 151.20 kW has been installed at the facility located at Via Mattei 4 and has been operational since March 2026.

The Group continues to invest in initiatives aimed at increasing the use of energy from renewable sources and monitoring energy consumption across its production sites.

Our plants and production sites boast a robust certification system that guarantees the highest standards of quality, safety and environmental responsibility.

Our certifications cover the entire spectrum of corporate activities and responsibilities, from quality management to environmental protection, and from good manufacturing practices for cosmetics to the exacting standards required by the medical device sector.

Packaging evolution

The R&D team has been actively engaged in numerous projects aimed at adopting more sustainable packaging solutions.

  • In the health food sector, all cartons used for our products are FSC® certified. Our packaging does not include the use of cellophane, and the paper-based wrappers used for our herbal teas are declared recyclable with paper and have been assessed according to the Aticelca 501:2019 method.

  • In the Oral Care sector, the Packaging R&D team is redesigning the toothpaste tube-and-cap combination, which currently consists of two different plastic materials, by converting it into a mono-material solution. Using both the tube and the cap from the same polyethylene (PE) polymer family represents an improvement in terms of design for recycling compared with the current configuration, which features a predominantly HDPE tube and a PP cap. The greater material homogeneity reduces the presence of incompatible polymers in the PE recycling stream, improving process efficiency and the quality of the recycled material obtained.

  • In the Toiletries segment, a single-layer polyethylene bottle has been developed, simplifying the recycling process.

  • The overall share of recycled materials used increased to 24% of the total, up from 20% in the previous year. As a company, we remain committed to balancing efficiency with environmental responsibility by pursuing a continuous improvement approach.

Packaging optimisation research and development

In 2024, we invested in research into product packaging solutions with a low environmental impact, through a holistic approach that considered the product’s entire life cycle.

Key initiatives included: downsizing bottles, perfecting toothpaste tubes, introducing liquid soap refill formats and the launch of a solid sunscreen packaged in a tin.

All these actions stemmed from a desire to reduce material consumption without compromising product quality or user experience.
